We would like to point out that under no circumstances you will be asked to provide your password, a TAN, or personal data via e-mail.
We will never communicate with you using a free e-mail service such as gmx, hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc. If you receive such e-mails, which pretend to be from us, please ignore them and inform us via the link below. Our specialists will contact you concerning investigation.
What is phishing?
The so called „phishing" – derived from „password fishing" – is used to get a hold of confidential user data and passwords by sending out fake E-mails.
Unfortunately there has recently been an increase in this sort of criminal activity. These E-mails not just ask the user to send confidential personal data, but sometimes also offer links to fake websites of companies and credit institutions to acquire the personal data when the user tries to login.
No reputable company will ever ask for your password, credit card number, or personal data nor will it ask you to update that information via E-mail. In netbanking you have the possibility – if necessary – to update your personal information like address etc. yourself.
Therefore we kindly ask you to ignore such E-mails.
If you have provided data we strongly urge you to change your password immediately or have a new one created for you. How can you do that?
You can change your password directly in netbanking (menu item „Change Password")
You can get a new password in your local branch
Request one by telephone at the netbanking helpdesk under 05 0100 - 50200
The Erste Bank and Sparkassen suggest the following for your own safety and to block such activities:
Be alert when receiving E-mails from unknown senders
Only use the official address: www.sparkasse.at/netbanking. Please also note our information on how to check the server's certificate
Save this address in your bookmarks or enter the address anew every time
Never provide confidential data (Login data, password, account number, etc.) via E-mail or by telephone
What can you do?
Check your connection.
Please check the URL in your browser. It should always start as follows and point to the following address:
https://www.sparkasse.at/....
https:// = bedeutet, dass es sich um eine sichere Seite handelt
www.sparkasse.at/... = die richtige Adresse beginnt immer so. Danach folgt die Adresse der jeweiligen Seite
You will see a closed lock icon on the lower toolbar.
Check the certificate
On secured pages, click on the closed lock icon on the lower toolbar of your browser and make sure that the certificate from Verisign, one of the world’s largest cerfication services providers, is set to www.sparkasse.at and that the level of encryption is 128 bit.
Don´t be thoughtless
As a final measure, we would like to appeal to you: We know that there is no 100 % security. We do our best to get as close to 100 % as possible.
But we need your cooperation:
You also need to pay attention to your security. As already mentioned above, there are a few issues you should check, and a few measures you should take to increase security. The most important thing, however, is that you check your security measures regularly. Please do not simply trust that „everything is safe anyway".
