Russia seen as a threat by EU citizens, increasing support for common defense

In the latest CEE Special Report Rebuild Ukraine we discuss the impact of the war in Ukraine on the CEE region, rebuilding needs as well as we look at the Ukraines economy and its potential. Another important angle is security and defense spending. According to the Eurobarometer, roughly two-thirds of European citizens see Russias invasion as a threat to the security of the EU. The Nordic countries consider Russia the biggest threat to the EU and their countries as well. Within the CEE region, Poland and Slovakia have the highest share of citizens who agree with the statement that Russia is a threat to security. Further, ensuring peace and stability is the key factor considered to have the highest positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
