Christoph Schoefboeck appointed new CEO of Erste Bank Croatia

Upon the end of his term on 30 April 2015, the current Chairman of the Board in Erste&Steiermärkische Bank d.d. (Erste Bank Croatia) Petar Radakovic decided to retire. By the decision of the Bank’s Supervisory Board, as of 1 May 2015 he will be succeeded as Chairman of the Board by Christoph Schoefboeck, currently a member of the Board. Schoefboeck’s appointment has to be cleared by the Croatian National Bank.

Petar Radakovic has been Chairman of the Board continuously since 1985. He was at the helm of Bjelovarska banka until 2000 and after the fusion of this bank with Trgovacka banka and Cakovecka banka he performed the duty of the Chairman of the Board in Erste&Steiermärkische Bank d.d. Zagreb. Upon the merger between Erste&Steiermärkische Bank d.d., Zagreb and Rijecka banka d.d. in 2003, he became Chairman of the Board of the bank that has been known since as Erste&Steiermärkische Bank d.d., Rijeka. In his long-lasting career he has made an immense contribution to creating one of the leading and most successful banks in the Croatian market. Erste Bank Croatia is today the third leading bank in the market according to assets, with more than 2,000 employees and over 800,000 clients. Erste Bank Croatia won the Zlatna kuna award as the most successful Croatian bank in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Christoph Schoefboeck has extensive and long-standing experience in various management positions in Croatia, being a member of the Board in Erste Bank Croatia since 2011, currently in the role of the Chief Risk Officer, at the same time holding various Supervisory Board functions within Erste Group Croatia. Prior to that he was Chief Operating Officer and a Member of the Board of ZAO Raiffeisenbank in Moscow, in charge of all operational and IT activities of the bank including a successful large bank merger and holding business responsibility for a large business region. From 2003 to 2006 he was the CRO and COO in HVB Splitska banka, and from 2002 to 2003 he was the authorised representative and Member of the Board of HVB Croatia d.d.

Before that he held a senior management position at Bank Austria Creditanstalt Russia and was the Chief Representative of Creditanstalt in Moscow. He earned a doctoral degree at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and completed a number of executive management programmes in Switzerland, UK and USA. Apart from his native German, Schoefboeck is also fluent in Croatian, English and Russian.
