Erste Group and Austrian savings banks to tender their media account

  • Tender process will start in April; a decision is expected by year-end
  • Annual media spend mounts to around EUR 40 million
  • First tender for media account in 7 years
  • The incumbent media agency MEC has been invited to tender

Erste Group Bank AG has put its yearly estimated EUR 40 million media account for the CEE region (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, and Serbia) and, together with the Austrian savings banks, in Austria up for review. The last tender for this account was held in 2009.

“Media is a significant area of investment for our group. For this reason, we have decided to put out a tender for our media planning and buying arrangements across the entire CEE region and Austria,” explains Daniel Ratzenböck, Head of Group Brands Communication. “Our bank is undergoing significant change due to digitalization, as is the world of media. We want to ensure that the services we receive from our agency partners are best-in-class and as future-proofed as possible within this rapidly evolving industry,” continues Ratzenböck.

The tender process will kick off in April, with the aim of appointing a regional agency network to be active as of 1 January 2017. The pitch will be managed by Erste Group in Austria with the support of MediaSense, an independent media advisory company based in London.
