Changes in the management boards of Erste Group’s subsidiaries in Slovakia and Romania
- Bernhard Spalt joins BCR as Chief Risk Officer
- Alexandra Habeler-Drabek succeeds Spalt in that role at SLSP

The following changes to the management boards of Banca Comercială Română (BCR) and Slovenská sporiteľňa (SLSP) will take effect as of 1 January 2017:
- Bernhard Spalt will leave his current role as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at SLSP to join the management board of BCR in the same position;
- Alexandra Habeler-Drabek, currently Head of Enterprise-wide Risk Management at Erste Holding, will succeed Spalt as the new CRO of SLSP.
“We have developed first-class risk management capabilities in our group, capabilities which are essential given the uncertain environment and wide range of regulatory requirements. In Alexandra and Bernhard, we have excellent managers who have demonstrated not just technical competence, but also strategic thinking and strong leadership,” commented Friedrich Rödler, head of the supervisory board of Erste Group.
Alexandra Habeler-Drabek has more than 22 years of experience in risk management. She has developed very comprehensive knowledge with regard to underwriting and workout for Retail and Corporates, as well as to risk steering from a strategic and methodological perspective. She joined Erste Bank from UniCredit in 2010 as Head of Operational Risk Management and became part of the top management of Erste Group in 2012.

Bernhard Spalt joined Erste Group in 1991 and has held various management positions in operative and strategic risk management over many years. From 1999 to 2002, Spalt headed the loan restructuring department of Česká spořitelna in the Czech Republic. After his return to Austria, he built up Erste Group’s strategic risk management division and he served as Chief Risk Officer of Erste Group from 2006 to January 2012. From 2012 to 2015, Spalt was responsible for risk management as a member of the management board at Erste Bank Hungary before joining Slovenská sporiteľňa in 2015.
Both appointments are subject to the approval of the relevant supervisory authorities.
