Expansion of the Management Board of Erste Bank Oesterreich as of 1 January 2018
Bernhard Spalt will assume responsibility for risk management at Erste Bank Oesterreich (EBOe); Claudia Höller will be in charge of the strategically important, group-wide data quality project in addition to her continuing function as EBOe’s CFO.
Bernhard Spalt has been with Erste Bank since 1991 and had previously been a member of the management board of Erste Group Bank AG from 2006 to 2012, serving as the banking group’s Chief Risk Officer (CRO). He subsequently held the CRO position at Erste Bank Hungary for three years before exercising the same role at Slovenska Sporitelna from 2015 until the end of 2017. He has been the Chief Risk Officer of BCR, Erste Group’s bank in Romania, since the beginning of 2017.
In addition to his function as CRO at EBOe, Bernhard Spalt will be responsible for strategic risk management at the Erste Group level, thus ensuring a comprehensive and optimal coordination of all related areas. In organisational terms, Spalt will exercise these duties through a staff unit reporting to Willibald Cernko, Erste Group’s CRO.
Stefan Dörfler (EBOe’s CEO and its board member responsible for the business segment) is looking forward to this new form of cooperation: "Bernhard Spalt can draw on the extensive experience he has gathered over many years of handling the challenges of the risk management business and their associated effects on customer relations."
Claudia Höller has been a member of the management board of Erste Bank Oesterreich since 2015. She will continue to serve on EBOe’s management board as CFO and will also assume responsibility for the important data management project being implemented across all of Erste Group’s countries. The topic of data quality and processing is fundamental for the future of the banking group.
As of 1 January 2018, the management board of Erste Bank Oesterreich will consist of Stefan Dörfler (CEO), Claudia Höller (CFO), Thomas Schaufler (retail clients) and Bernhard Spalt (CRO).
These changes are subject to the approval of the competent supervisory bodies and authorities.
