Erste Bank to offer special services for high-risk groups

1 April is just around the corner, and many people in Austria are used to collecting their wages and pensions in person at branches. In light of the corona crisis, high-risk groups, such as people over 65 or people with pre-existing illnesses, should exercise particular caution. ‘People’s health is the most im-portant thing, and we must do everything we can to protect it. That’s why I am calling on all retirees to stay at home on 1 April, even if your pension has gone into your account. Your money is safe here, and you can always withdraw it a day or so later. Our self-service foyer and over 190 OMV banking service points are also open around the clock, meaning you can withdraw money at quieter times’, says Peter Bosek, CEO of Erste Bank.

Special times for high-risk groups

Customers who still require personal support despite the current situation will of course continue to have access to advisors at the branches. Ideally by prior appointment. A special service for high-risk groups has now also been set up, and will take effect on 2 April: ‘We’re asking everyone to keep the daily time slot of 9am to 10am free for high-risk groups’, says Bosek. ‘In exceptional circumstances such as these, we need to make daily tasks as easy and safe as possible for the elderly. But I would still once again like to point out that the best way of protecting yourself from the virus is to stay at home. Anyone who does still come into a branch should make sure they refrain from doing so on busy days like the first of the month. These days see a higher number of customers visit, and thus pose a higher risk of infection.’

Use online banking and the self-service foyer

For the elderly in particular, Internet banking is now a very safe way of doing banking. George also makes it very easy to contact your consultant and do banking via the secure s Kontakt communication channel. In addition to online services, customers also have access to telephone consulting by calling 050100. Bank statements can similarly be printed out, and money withdrawn and deposited, quickly and easily in the self-service foyers of over 1000 branches and OMV banking service points across Austria – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
