Erste Group's Supervisory Board to propose Gottfried Haber as successor to its current chairman Friedrich Rödler

The Supervisory Board of Erste Group Bank AG (“Erste Group”) has resolved to propose Gottfried Haber for election to Erste Group’s Supervisory Board at the next Annual General Meeting 2025 and to appoint him as Chairman of the Supervisory Board following his election. This development is subject to the positive completion of the fit and proper assessment required by the supervisory authorities and the election of Gottfried Haber to Erste Group’s Supervisory Board by the Annual General Meeting 2025. This approach also ensures that Gottfried Haber complies with the “cooling-off” period stipulated by the supervisory authority.

Friedrich Rödler, Chairman of Erste Group’s Supervisory Board, is delighted: “I am pleased that after the many years that I have spent at the helm, the course has been set to place the leadership of the Supervisory Board in younger hands at the next Annual General Meeting 2025. Gottfried Haber's comprehensive experience, combined with the expertise of the entire Supervisory Board team, guarantees that Erste Group can continue its role as the leading financial services provider in Central and Eastern Europe and, under the leadership of the bank’s Management Board, further expand its standing.”

Gottfried Haber is a university professor of economics and was most recently the vice governor of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), Austria’s central bank.
