Ingo Bleier to step down from Erste Group’s Management Board at the end of his current term

  • Stepping back for private reasons
  • Supervisory Board to initiate a structured succession process
  • Gottfried Haber: “On behalf of the Supervisory Board I would like to thank Ingo Bleier for his long-standing commitment and valuable contribution.”

Ingo Bleier, Chief Corporates and Markets Officer at Erste Group Bank AG, has informed the Chairman of the Supervisory Board that he will complete his current term, which runs until the end of June 2026, but will not seek an extension.

Bleier has served on Erste Group’s Management Board since 2019, playing a pivotal role in shaping the strategic development of the Group’s corporate and capital markets business. Under his leadership, Erste Group has become a leading capital markets and asset management house in Central and Eastern Europe. He also spearheaded the digital transformation of corporate banking through the introduction of George Business for corporate clients.

I had the privilege and great satisfaction of helping build a successful corporate and capital markets business that now contributes significantly to the Group’s earnings,” said Ingo Bleier. “For private reasons, I have now decided to step back from my board responsibilities once my mandate ends and am fully committed to ensure a smooth transition.

Supervisory Board Chairman Gottfried Haber expressed his regret at the decision: “Ingo Bleier has helped shape Erste Group during a critical phase and successfully advanced our Corporates and Markets business. On behalf of the Supervisory Board, I would like to thank him for his long-standing commitment and valuable contribution.

Peter Bosek, CEO of Erste Group, added: “I respect Ingo’s decision and sincerely thank him for his outstanding work. Under his leadership, we strengthened our capital markets business and reinforced our position as a trusted partner in Central and Eastern Europe. I wish him and his family all the best.

The Supervisory Board will now initiate the process of identifying a suitable successor.

Bleier has been a member of Erste Group’s Management Board since July 2019. Prior to that, he headed Group Corporates from 2015 and was responsible for Investment Banking between 2010 and 2014. He joined Erste Group in December 2007 in the area of credit markets, following senior roles at UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking, HVB Group, and Bank Austria Creditanstalt. His international experience includes leading Corporate Banking at Banca Creditanstalt in Romania. Bleier began his career in 1994 as a trainee at Creditanstalt-Bankverein.
