Erste Group Appoints Juan de Porras Aguirre as Erste Group’s Executive Director Corporates
Erste Group Bank AG today announces the appointment of Juan de Porras Aguirre as Executive Director Corporates. He starts his role today and reports directly to Erste Group CEO Peter Bosek.
Juan de Porras Aguirre joins Erste Group with more than three decades of international banking experience. Most recently, as Vice President of Santander Bank Polska, he oversaw Corporate & Investment Banking, Wealth Management and Insurance. Since 2011, he led the development of the bank’s CIB division, building it into a market‑leading franchise in Poland across key asset classes.
Before joining Santander Group in Madrid in 2007, he held senior roles at Royal Bank of Scotland and Société Générale, focusing on energy, telecommunications and corporate banking across Spain and Europe. He began his career at Commerzbank, specialising in credit risk.
Peter Bosek, CEO of Erste Group, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Juan to Erste Group. He was instrumental in building the corporate franchise in Poland, and his experience will help us extend that strength across all our Central European markets. The corporate business is a cornerstone of our Group, and with Juan’s leadership we will deepen cross‑market collaboration. Economic activity in our region is accelerating, and more of it is happening within the region itself. Juan’s broad experience across major asset classes will help us seize these opportunities and further improve the services we provide to our corporate clients.”
Juan de Porras added: “I am truly excited to join Erste Group and to return to working with people who are very dear to me. I have always been motivated by building and expanding businesses. Erste’s footprint gives me the chance to do exactly that in some of Europe’s most dynamic and fast‑growing markets.”
After the completion of Ingo Bleier’s regular term in office on 30 June 2026, Erste Group Holding Board will be reduced from five to four members, considering that all businesses are largely represented at local level in all markets. Peter Bosek and Stefan Dörfler will assume Holding Board responsibility for Corporates and Markets at Holding Board level.
