Adriano Bruno (49) will join Erste Group as Head of Group Human Resources on 15 August 2020. He will be responsible for the further development of Erste Group’s HR organization and people management as the banking group continues its long-term growth strategy in Central and Eastern Europe by putting digitalization at the forefront and addressing the evolving needs of customers, employees, investors, communities and governments in the region. With a 20-year career in the consumer goods, IT, financial services and life sciences industries, Adriano Bruno brings a strong track record in meeting these challenges and comprehensive HR management experience to the role. He will report directly to Bernd Spalt, CEO of Erste Group Bank AG.
“As the largest bank in the CEE region, we are preparing to take our organization into the ‘next normal’ following the Covid-19 crisis by putting people management and digitization at the very heart of our corporate vision. In Adriano Bruno we have found a high caliber HR leader with an excellent track record in achieving these goals”, says Bernd Spalt. “In his previous positions at large international companies, Adriano has demonstrated his ability to deliver structural change and innovative HR programs throughout evolving organizations, as well as to successfully build and manage HR teams – all of which will help him to contribute to Erste Group’s future development.”
While he will pursue his own business ventures on leaving Erste Group, Markus Posch will continue to work closely with the banking group as an Advisor to the management board. “Over the last ten years, Markus Posch has significantly strengthened the HR function within Erste Group. On behalf of the entire management board team at Erste Group, I sincerely thank him and wish Markus all the best going forward,” said Bernd Spalt. Sabine Mlnarsky remains the Head of Human Resources Austria, as well as Deputy Head of Group HR.
A Swiss citizen, Adriano Bruno originally started as a software developer and IT manager in the early 1990’s. He transitioned to the HR field while leading the ‘Interactive Mentor Program’ as a member of Unilever’s London-based eBusiness Strategy Team in 2001. Subsequently, he joined the company’s Global HR Expertise Team, where he helped design a new operating framework for the HR function. Next, Bruno was responsible for the implementation of the HR transformation program covering 15 European countries from Unilever’s Rotterdam headquarters, followed by increasingly senior HR positions at the corporation. In addition to Unilever, Bruno’s career includes roles as global HR business partner at UBS, country HR Head at IBM and later at Bayer and, most recently, global HR transformation leader at Bayer. Adriano Bruno’s experience covers the complete HR value chain from recruitment, talent management, reward and employee relations to HR transformation and change management.
